online tasks proxy

problem with online tasks and proxy

Hi,
I have two problems with the latest CTP (5308 x64, did not try the 32 bit yet). At our company we are behind a proxy and when I try to activate Windows, I get an error code 0x8004fc03. And if I click on the contact Microsoft help, it pops the Windows help and support page and it says that I lost my connection to Windows Assistance Online.
Is there something to do?
thanks

Hmm... the error codes don't seem to help me much. Usually when I get an error code, I'll just ping a friend on my Messenger list who "translates" them for me :op However he aint online :o(
Hmm indeed... have you checked with your network administrators? It could be that your network might not be recognising Windows Vista for example, or maybe you just need to check with them to get the proxy settings in IE7 fixed.

IE7 works fine, that is where I posted the question, so I am guessing that either the port requested is blocked or the proxy setting is not taken into account (I saw, some time ago, software package that check for updates on the web but they don't take into account the proxy).
Do you know if we can activate thru another way like phone or email?

Make sure that ports 119 and 80 are not blocked. -- -- Andre Windows Connect | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

And if you can't activate online... and if you ring up Microsoft they'll totally deny Vista exists on Activation (why, I have no idea... I tried it for a laugh and got nowhere), so just keep changing the Product key from the ones you have on Connect ;o) That should work!
